Avast can't do anything about....

…about a virus it found in a rar archive…Avast warned me about the the win32 trojan-gen VC a window opened letting me choose what action to take

first i clicked on fix it ( not sure about the english terme, reparer in french since i have the french version of Avast)
Avast couldn’t fix it, it says : Les donnees de ce type ne sont pas pris en charge, if i can do a translation in englis h it would be: the data of this type cannot be taken in charge ?)

so the first action to fix or clean it doesn’t work, then i chose to delete it Avast couldn’t do it once again with the same message : Les donnees de ce type ne sont pas pris en charge, if i can do a translation in englis h it would be: the data of this type cannot be taken in charge ?)

and then chose put it in the chest : Avast couldn’t do it too sayin the same message again

So why Avast couldn’t do anything about the trojan in the rar archive ??

well all i had to do if delete the rar archive by myself… :frowning:

Think i found the solution …here’s what i did :

I chose : rename the file (in that casse it was install.exe in the winrar archine) then Avast renamed the file install.exe.vir and put it in the Avast/data/moved folder and then i deleted the install.exe.vr file in that folder and then finally that trojan was deleted from the rar archive…

i have downloaded the infected file again but this time even by renaming it in the avast\data\moved folder and deleting it there the infected file install.exe in the rar archive in my emule\incoming folder was still there… :frowning: then i choose to put it in the trashcan (corbeille in french) and then Avast would warn me again that the install.exe infected file in the trashcan was infected and i couldn’t do anything, heal delete or put it in the chest , i had to delete it myself… :-[ why can’t i do anything about that trojan ??? (win32-gen VC)

 Hi :

For TROJAN detection & removal, I use the good & FREE
"Ewido" from www.ewido.net/en ; this program
"specializes" in trojan & worm detection & removal .

thax for the info… :)…I’ve downloaded Ewido and it took almost 4 hours to scan my 2 drives :-X…It found nothing normal since i’ve deleted the infected file by myself cause Avast couldn’t do a thing about it…Ewido is free but ui can use it just 14 days after that you have to buy it if u want to continue using it… :frowning:

No, Ewido will continue to be free but unless you pay, the Guard resident scanner, and the automatic updates will become inactive after 14 days. At that time and afterwards, you will need to manually do the update downloads as well as starting the scanner when you want to scan for trojans, worms, etc. These update downloads are very quick.
