Ok, so it all started out; my computer lagging and crashing often with “script content” warnings, which I found due to Avast!'s “Online Security (+WebRep)” extension when enabled…now, with the confidence that it couldn’t purely be down to Avast!, I spent hrs researching, and cleaning up my add-ons, making sure the ones that are infamous for interfering with smooth web browsing, plus some others, which I personally discovered were doing there own bit for the over all interference, were eliminated from the equation; every single trace…or so I thought…
Avast! still lags and crashes Firefox, when enabled (even when all other add-ons are deactivated, which are few, and safe now) and I even tried changing some of the web scanning settings in Avast!, but none of them made a difference, I also made sure there’s no remnants of old anti-virus software left on my computer, and you guessed it; nothing changed…Now, every time I run a “Browser Cleanup” in Avast! it instantly it says:
“A special tool has been found on your computer, which prevents avast! Browser Cleanup from properly listing and removing your browser add-ons.
If this tool is not removed, the results of avast! Browser Cleanup might be unreliable.
Do you want to completely remove this tool (recommended)?”
So, of course I click “yes”…then it tells me:
“Your browsers appear to be free from add-ons that have a poor reputation”
But as I said this happens every time I run the cleanup, which doesn’t make any sense, and to add to insult to injury, when I click on the FF tab on the side, there’s a message that reads:
“This list contains all add-ons we have detected from this browser, etc…”
And the only thing there is Skype’s “Click to Call” add-on, disabled…even though I spent ages making sure I thoroughly removed it via “Troubleshooting” methods and all sorts…
Obviously there’s still a hidden trace of it stored somewhere, and I have no idea how to find it…Please can you help?
Oh and one last thing is I tried to get Remote Assistance, and it came up as an error, saying the ticket (the code it gave me) is not valid; another thing that happens every time…
