I’m not sure where exactly on this forum this kind of report should go to, but here goes anyway.
I am getting an issue with Avast where the Flash version of Chatango (chatango.com) is stuck loading forever, and the embedded video stream on a website as well as the widget for it, more precisely on mlgstreamers.com, won’t load at all, at least when the stream is set to Automatic or Hitbox. The stream widget is stuck loading as well. All other Hitbox streams work just fine elsewhere. The reason why I know that it’s Avast causing this issue is because I temporarily disabled Avast then refreshed those websites, and they both worked fine, but when I enabled it again then refreshed, they were back to how they previously were.
I was not getting this issue with Avast until a certain update, I believe I’ve been getting this issue since around October or November of this year. This happens on all browsers I’ve tried, including Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. I know for a fact that the stream and widget on mlgstreamers.com and the Flash version of Chatango are all safe to use, seeing as I had a chance to use them before the Avast update.
Of course I could always add the URLs for them on Avast’s lists of exceptions, however I’ve been told that this won’t protect me against outgoing sites that could be harmful, though this is mainly a concern with Chatango due to its nature, and seeing as it’s used on several websites. I have been using Avast for a very long time and would like to know if this issue could be fixed in the next update, or at least if adding websites to the list of exceptions will still protect me against potentially harmful outgoing links.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I’m using the latest version of Avast Free Antivirus 2015.
Thank you for your time.
EDIT: Turns out adding mlgstreamers.com and chatango.com to the exceptions list doesn’t appear to fix any of the issues.
