avast! causing unnecessary CHKDSK at startup?

Hi there, :slight_smile:

I’m frequently getting unnecessary CHKDSK runs at startup (Win 7 x64), and I believe it could be caused by avast! somehow (as per the information on this thread: http://superuser.com/questions/106201/chkdsk-at-boot-time-on-windows-7-without-a-reason )
Driver problems are pretty much discarded, because I’ve been running the same drivers for a very long time (except for Catalyst), and this problem has just recently started. :-\

Is anyone else having this problem? ???

EDIT: I don’t think it’s related to the other problem mentioned in the thread, because I’m not getting the ERROR_FILE_CORRUPT error. Still, I tried disabling Windows Search service. Now only time will tell…

It started tonight… each reboot out of two… I have Windows 7, 64-bit. Just switched over from AVG which had no issues.

W7/64 here…and no such thing.

@vittau:

  1. do you have any recent errors in Event Viewer? [Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System]
  2. do you use Free/Pro or IS?
  3. do you use other security apps which could be in conflict with avast? [compress tools, backups, encryption, …]
  4. do you have only NTFS partitions?
  5. do you have some new files in \Windows\minidump folder?

Thanks
