Hi, I have an Asus laptop with Windows 8.1 and after installing Avast 2015 free edition my screen brightness goes up and down quickly and is really annoying >:( >:(
If I close avast, the problem is solved, but when I open it again, the problem continues…
I tried to reinstall avast but don’t solved the problem.
This is the first time I read something about.
Avast should have zero impact on the brightness of the screen…
Any other program that could be interfering with Avast?

What antivirus did you use prior to installing avast? Use it’s uninstall utility/removal tool and run it in safe mode.
Install a fresh copy of avast 2015. After that it will run a quick system scan. After that restart your computer manually. After restart, register your copy of avast!

Hi,
I had this same issue upon installing Avast free on my laptop. The screen would dim at random times. But after I reboot my system the problem was fixed. I think Avast free should ask to reboot your system after installing it.
Mine was doing the same thing. If it matters or helps, my laptop is an HP. Then it all of a sudden stopped. Don’t know if it was a glitch and it just stopped or if it stopped after an update. I just know I had the same thing happening and it’s now no longer happening. Should it start or I notice it’s doing it again, trust me, I’ll reply back and let you know. But for now, it’s one thing I don’t have to worry about.
