call B.T. and get them to escalate the call to supervisor/manager level (make a note of the name of your first contact and all later names and dates/times)

Tell them that their restrictions are compromising your system’s security and you want a work around for their systems. Don’t take no for an answer. This has worked for me with NTL, I got 1 year at half price for tv internet and telephone.

Follow it up with a letter to the supervisor/manager you talk to (establish a paper trail)

If this doesn’t work, call them back and inform them you’ll be changing isp provider and give 1 month’s notice… that will really make them sit up and take notice. Customer churn is a real problem!
