Avast chockes on update, corruption

A few weeks ago something in Avast free edition gtot corrupted. I couldn’t update the virus defs or the program.

I re-installaed Avast but same things happens.

Why was the updating procedure designed to be so ricky with chances of program file corruption? Never seen that before.

Anyhow, any fixes would be appreciated cause when the progran works it works great.

Perhaps something else is preventing avast from working and avast itself is not corrupt.

You did a reinstall, try a repair see if it helps.

Can you tell us what

operating system you are using.

and what adware/spyware programs you use.
