Avast chrome extention - 'unlock passwords' not clickable button.

Hello!
there is an unexpected problem:
it became impossible to unlock the program from the google chrome extension. unlocking works only from the main program ‘avast passwords’.

what i have already done:

  1. removal and reinstallation of the chrome extension.
  2. Complete removal and reinstallation of the passwords module from the main AVAST program.
    none of the ways helps.

Avast Passwords extention Version 2.0.4569
OS: Windows 10 Pro ver.: 20H2
Chrome is up to date: Version 94.0.4606.61 (Official Build) (64-bit)

p.s. the same problem appeared in ‘Avast Secure Browser’.

Confirmed here, also reported by another user.

Since Avast Passwords already passed its EOL, there might be no fix for this I guess… :frowning:

For now, you can disable master password prompt by unchecking all “Auto-lock” settings.
Removal of master password seems to be impossible in normal way.

Ok. workarounds are clear .
sad to hear about EOL.
once very convenient user-friendly software has become not very user-friendly
thx.

Hi,

We are sorry for the inconvenience. We can only provide a workaround, and that is to unlock Passwords through Avast Antivirus > Privacy > Passwords. When unlocked, the browser extension should work as usual.

Same issue here…

EOL ? Avast Passwords or the extension for Chrome ??? :-[

OK just read it, why … :‘( :’(

Dev-Info: Hi, just a FYI, I’ve just fixed this. Should be in 21.9 or 21.10

Thanks, when will this be released?
In this form, I can only use my password subscription to a limited extent. But will Avast Passwords ensure this functionality in the long term? I have my doubts right now.

Why not releasing a hotfix right now >:(?

Thank you

Good question.

This started happening to me today. Is there any connection to having just run a Smart Scan? Because after that was when the issue started for me. The workaround did bring the window back so thanks for that.

Nope.

Im having this problem too - I want my money back if this isn’t being fixed promptly! >:(

Latest beta fixed this problem, try it if you really hurry.

New beta version 21.9.2492

Same issue for me.
As I understand it (indirectly) from this discussion (for the first time), it as a consequence of a new licensing model (more or less taking a really convenient feature away from Avast Free users and somehow moving it to the premium stream?).

This may be acceptable from a business perspective, but it is still very annoying to me, because I think it hasn’t been properly announced.
Just letting people run into it by chance ist not a good policy.

Hi, the fix in V21.9 will also work for Avast Free.

Great news, thanks for the info!

You’re welcome.

I really like Avast Passwords, and hope they will reconsider the offering.

If not, is there a migration path to another password manager?

Two you might want to consider, Bitwarden ( https://bitwarden.com/ )
and/or LastPass ( https://www.lastpass.com/ )
I use both of them.

I have just renewed by subscription and all don’t have access to any of my passwords now.

Anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks
