Avast Cleanup Premium indicates there over 1 million outdated programs which need updating.

Interesting, not just over a million, that figure is almost 1.8 Billion.
I doubt that you even have that many files on your system much less programs (let alone that need updating) installed on your system.
My last Full Virus Scan only scanned 152GB size.

this is obviously some kind of bug, in order to be able to help you I would like to ask you to send the log files so we can investigate where the problem is.
You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast Cleanup\tulogcollector.exe and once the logs are collected they will be automatically send to our server.
Once it is done, please let me know which email address you have used there so we can join the logs with your report here.

we found the root cause of this issue and already fixed it.
The fix will be distributed in the update which will most likely go out either later this week or beginning of next week (I will announce it as the new version on the forum).
