From what I understand the account server that Avast talks to as gone down. Every other virus protection should still be working(?)

For people bothered about the pop up, just minimize it, or leave it on the desktop and put your other programs over it.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon, as yea it is mildly annoying keep having it pop-up.

submit ticket .support.avast.com same here

my.avast.com is currently down which may cause these popups since Avast tries to update your Avast account

has nothing to do with your windows . pure avast server crash

Agreed, but why is Avast trying to update our Avast accounts, at such regular intervals?

It updates which shields are enabled/disabled and some other data like Karma points, last connection, Virus database version, the license etc.

Yeah but I don’t even USE the account and I am not logged in and am never logged in, but it still does the popups

Hi,

it’s a bug on our update servers, we are working on a fix asap.

Martin

Thanks for the update Martin, hope it will be fixed soon.

I had to try the “Forum Log-In” four times before my log-in went through.

In case of severe failure causing problems on millions of peoples’ computers, then, at least, the avast! homepage should have a message on it.

A good message to put on the homepage would include: The update servers are having problems; the symptoms include users’ avast! clients to periodically pop up and complain about not being able to connect; and a suggestion to please check the homepage again later when an ETA for repairs will be announced.

Right there on the homepage – the first place most people will look for answers.

Then, people will know that the problem isn’t in their own computers. “Less communication” increases the anger. “More communication” reduces the anger. So, make an effort.

People shouldn’t have to drill around the website and rummage through the forum, and read through to Page 3 to find out that the problem is being addressed. You could put a message on the homepage. Communicate with your millions of users instead of hiding.

+1

it is not the first bug or false positive that have flooded this forum with users looking for answer, so lets hope they do something like that in the future

Thanks Pondus. +1 to you too.

So, is it fixed yet? typed on a laptop running Ubuntu

Reportedly so.

OK, thanks.

It’s fixed for me.

On the Avast user interface >> Account, I am still getting The online content is unavailable, with a Reload button. Clicking the Reload button returns the same message, The online content is unavailable.

When is this going to be fixed?
