Hi all,
Really need some help. I just installed avast SOA v 7 on 2011 SBS Essentials server. My clients are not connecting. 6 of them have question marks. 2 of them show like a disconnected plug and 1 of them have a green check mark. I need a solution asap. Some of the clients I pushed from SOA, some I used the link and download the package. I turned off the firewall on the server but still they were not connecting. I can ping the server name and ip so resolution is good. Any other ideas?
No help?
check for firewalls
Check that the firewall is off or has the correct exceptions. Also very important is to check the DNS settings on the clients. If you are using SBS/SBS Essentials the clients should have the SBS server as the primary DNS server given to them through DHCP. If you have multiple offices/subnets then you need to enter the SBS server on your internal DNS at the other sites as well so they will point to it as well.
I have the same situation. Firewall entries appear correct. I’ve tried turning the firewalls off & running discovery - it finds nothing. All PCs are getting IP via DHCP from our SBS 2011 server. They only have it registered in DNS.
Endpoint pushed out fine to all clients, but from the client side appears to be just a trial install of Avast. I can find no reference to the server anywhere. Clients go direct to the Avast site for updates - they do not even appear to attempt connection to the server mirror.
Disable firewall on client and server and see if it connects. The clients wont get the license until they check in the first time, so this is some kind of communication issue back to the server.
