avast closes after memory test

When I go to open up avast, it runs the mem test and then won’t open up.

Any ideas?

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

What happens if you try to open it directly, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimpl.exe this just opens the Simple User Interface without the memory scan ?

We will need more information to be able to help you:

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • Do you use a firewall? Which one?
  • Like David asked, do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Did you have in the past?
  • Any other security programs that could interfere?
