Avast closing constantly

I have avast premier, cleanup, and secureline. My computer has been slow, so I try to do a cleanup scan. I’m connected to the internet, and open up avast. Click Scan>Scan for performance issues. It loads, and say’s this content cant be loaded(check internet connection). I am however connected to the internet. Then my avast just closes randomly. I open it back up, and within 30 seconds it closes again. When I’m not connected to the internet it stays open with no problems, but I’m unable to do the scan.

I noticed on the task bar while I’m surfing the internet (didnt open up avast once) there was 20-25 avast icons that go away when scrolled over. Not sure what is causing this issue.

I tried to do a smart scan to fix my performance issues, but when it goes to fix the issues it get stuck on “Hold on while we work our magic”. I have my avast updated to the newest version, as i saw some of these problems in the old version.

Anyone who can help is appreciated.

  • Which version of Premier…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Premier version: 17.3.2991
OS:windows 8.1, 64 bit
Other security related software: Nothing besides the default windows firewall.
Other AV: Only used avast. Had it last year, it expired for 3-4 months and I renewed it just recently.

OK.

Welcome to the forums.

Your issue could be caused by prior licence expiry. Allowing your licence to expire can cause connectivity issues. What did you use for an a/v after expiry?

I used free avast for the time being. I did try to renew before it expired but avast was having problems with the payment process. I decided to try again to upgrade after a few months, and then it worked.

I repaired avast using the instructions on that link. Everything is working good now. No more crashing, and performance scans are working. Thanks guys! Much appreciated!

Repairing plus a couple more reboots seems to help in most cases.

You’re welcome.
