Avast Community option - autoupdate

hi all!
Why is the community option selected after an automatic update of avast? I have unchecked the option before the update but it is automatically selected after the update.
Please leave the settings as they are selected by the user!

I thought that the settings would have been preserved, my other settings were, but I had the Community option enabled as it gives (anonymous) data to help all avast users.

What avast version do you have installed, 7.0.146 is the latest.

@Data.

It is a good idea to have " Participate in the Avast! Community " active. You can unclicked COMMUNITY SERVICES if you like.

Participating in Avast! Community helps everyone by making Avast! stronger to fight malwares. How does it work:

the feature is useful, ok. But:
I don´t want avast to change settings without my permission!

well that generally doesn’t happen I have many changed settings that are/were retained.

As far as I can recall I think the Community option is unchecked if you do a clean install, it has been a while since I have done a clean install and as I said I have always checked that option, so I wouldn’t know if it did change it.

That option should be preserved during the update, just like the others.
Have you changed any other option previously? If so, can you check whether it’s been kept, or whether it has also been reverted to the default?
Thanks.

I have seen this behavior in several installations. In all cases the option was previously unchecked and after the updated selected. Other options e.g. automatic program updating is kept.

What type of installation are you doing? A regular installation or a Custom install?

I have done custom installs always

I noticed this too, for several updates now.
Made a post and got redirected to this topic.

I hope this get fixed.
Doesnt fit to a good product like yours.

I can also confirm. The latest update 1456 didn’t preserve my settings for “Participate in avast! community” and “Enable reputation services.”

In that case, it mostly likely didn’t preserve any settings, i.e. performed basically a reinstall instead of an update… :frowning:

in about 7 installations it is the same:
option: Participate in avast! community is marked after the update, and other settings are NOT changed.

It prerserved all my settings except those two. It’s a bug, stop making excuses and deal with it.

Let me put is this way: there used to be a special handling for the community settings, which shouldn’t be used anymore, but it is possible that there is a bug somewhere - it will be checked.
But there’s no special code for the reputation services - so it’s basically impossible that only that particular setting would be changed because of a bug.

Also, I just checked the code and there’s no handling or bug related to the reputation services.

Okay, thanks for checking igor, and sorry to be disrespectful. I’ll watch reputation services at next update and see what happens.
