I dont know where this post should go, so I’m guessing…
Okay, I believe this problem revolves around avast, but I am unsure. I am in dire need of help…
Okay well first, it started with Windows Internet Explorer, I have the seventh one, and I really do not like to use mozilla firefox…I just hate it.
What happened was the first time i would open Windows Internet Explorer 7, there would be only the title bar at the top of the screen, and the rest of the screen would be white. The other thing that would happen is that every time i loaded my deviantart page (an art site I use 90% of the time), I would always be logged out (IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THE DEVIANTART PROBLEM SO I CAN CONFIRM IT IS NOT MY COMPUTER ACTING UP?)
The second time I loaded Windows Internet Explorer, The title bar, html and search bar, and tabs would all be in tact, along with the internet loady thingy on the bottom of the page. I would still be logged out of Deviantart however.
Next, I started to have problems with skype, the top bar of the skype window was gone (“skype, contacts, conversation, etc.”) And I was starting to get worried.
I ran two avast scans (a regular scan and then later on a boot scan that made everything work a little better), a trojan remover scan, and a Malwarbytes Anti-Malware scan. They all found a couple things.
Removing all of those things, everything was still messed up, I could not do a System Restore or open Add or Remove programs.
I decided to uninstall my current Interet Explorer and download Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox keeps me logged into Deviantart normally and does not seem to give me any problems.
HOWEVER, soon after that, I had to restart my comp becuase I had run an update or something for AVAST 4.8. My computer came to the desktop, loaded avast things, and then would freeze (including the time). Nothing would happen after that.
I went into safemode and removed AVAST, and everything loaded up perfectly. I tried downloading avast again, and everything went bad again, so I uninstalled it again. After that, I was able to download Windows Internet Explorer 7 again and IT seems to work now. Skype is also working, along with my ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS and everything else.
However, now I am without a virus protector and (since I LOVE AVAST) worried that I will get a virus.
I have windows XP. I was thinking that going on oldversion.com and getting an older version on avast that worked for me would help, but I am stopped here because It is stresing me out. If it is not avast, can someone help me figure out what it is.
I am not a great computer person, so if you know how to solve this, then explain in small simple words and easy steps, laughs…
