Avast connection time out!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep receiving the following message continuously:

AVAST CONNECTION TIMEOUT: INTERNET CONNECTION TIMEOUT ELAPSED:
CONTINUE WAITING?
CCQXSF.EXE–>(IP ADDRESS HERE)

Any help?

Just started doing this yesterday after almost a year of use. System is running slow now also and there is no change in ISP.

Thanks

If you just boot, will the happen again?
I mean, it could be a temporary problem or you have your computer infected (or with trouble).
Can you test?

Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.

Can you either print the full text details of the error, the IP address should also have the port used at the end of it like 12.123.123.123:25, it would appear that you have a program/malware trying to connect to the internet through the email ports. Since avast’s email scanner monitors these ports and is expecting email traffic a timeout can occur.

What were you doing at the time the warning popped up ?
What is your email program ?
Do you use any P2P programs ?
Do you have a firewall ? - if so block access to CCQXSF.EXE as a temporary measure until this is resolved.

If avast hasn’t found anything under normal circumstances I doubt it will find anything on a boot-time scan.

A google search for CCQXSF.EXE doesn’t find anything, which make me more suspicious. Depending on your OS (?) download and run the appropriate program Ewido Security Suite If using winXP. or a-Squared free if using win98/ME. It may well be better to run this program from safe mode.

Welcome to the forums, pastor4the master.

Yes, it does seem like malware of some type. In adition to the programs David has suggested, you might also try these two after either Ewido or a-squared. The two below will work on all Windows versions …

Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoft.nu/software/adaware/

Spybot-Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Be sure to come back and let us know the results.

right click on the avast ball in your taskbar and click on on access protection control and then internet mail and then advanced and increase the time to 600 and make sure the ask is checked and hit ok…i e-mailed avast support in the past and this is what they told me to do…also try and buy a retail of spyware protection and ad-ware protection(freeware software off the internet does’nt catch everything)especially spybot…it locked up my system in the past…get spy sweeper(retail) and ad-aware se plus …they work get together…hope this helped also…after doing the above the problem of the timeout has NOT came back…

This is not true, I mean, no product is perfect but there are a lot of free antispyware that do the job very well.
Spybot + spyware blaster + a2 + ewido combination is perfect.
Spy sweeper remove the ashDisp.exe entry of the startup programs. You could lose your avast icon on system tray.

yes spy sweeper will remove the ashdispexe if it is on your system first then install avast…i installed avast then my retail spy sweeper and ad-aware se plus and no problem…my ashdisp.exe is starting up ALL the time…but to the internet connection timeout hope the prior mentioned on my other post works…it did for me :o

I’m sorry but this is not what to do unless it is established why the timeout has occurred! In this case it is almost certainly caused by malware and extending the timeout delay isn’t an option, this may only allow the malware out.

If a timeout is caused because long delays occur because you are sending emails with large attachments (avast takes time to scan them) there is no activity between the email program and server so a timeout may occur. Also extending only the avast timeout in isolation won’t work as it is almost always the email timeout warning that would fire first. So if that remains unchanged, time-outs may continue.
