Avast constantly scanning the same files

Lately I’ve noticed that the Avast icon in the system tray has been spinning constantly. So I checked the statistics screen (which is still accessible by going to account, your device, and clicking the statistics button) and found that Avast appears to be scanning the same system files every few seconds:

C:\Windows\System32\reg.exe
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
C:\Windows\System32\conhost.exe

OS is Windows 10 64-bit with Anniversary Update
I have other systems that are not exhibiting this behavior.
I’ve tried repairing and reinstalling Avast
I’d like to know if this is a simply a reporting error or an actual bug, and if so, how to fix it.

avast realtime protection is monitoring evrything that goes on in your computer when on

if there is activity seen on those files then avast is doing exactly what it should, so maybe you should ask what are they and why

If suspicious you may upload and check the file(s) at www.virustotal.com / www.metadefender.com / www.jotti.org alaways click rescan for a fresh result if files are scanned before

Virustotal give lots of extra file info if you click the additional tabs after scan

I don’t know what statistics you’re getting ??? I can’t access statistics through the my.avast.com account ???
