I connect to a laptop via VNC, on the laptop I noticed that the avast icon is continuously spinning. Watching the file agent I saw that avast is always scanning tvnserver.exe, after a few hours the count was at more than 30’000 scan of this file. It does not make sense.
I discovered that another process, WLTRAY.exe, part of a Broadcom wireless lan utility, is continuously scanned by avast too.
The upshot of that lengthy topic is ensure that you have the latest engine & virus definitions, as something changed towards the end of yesterday and I’m no longer seeing this impact.
What is your OS, as most if not all of those effected by repetitive scanning were using XP ?
You don’t have to deactivate the excludes, just temporarily stop and restart the file system shield, FSS (that resets the count to 0/0), the self-defence module will seek confirmation when you stop the FSS.
Now you should be able to see how it starts to build up. Essentially I believe this was a problem with the Transient cache (which should stop the repetitive scans), I believe you should be able to see that even with the exclusions in place.
