Avast corrupts my downloads

Hello

I have recently installed Avast free on a Windows 7 PC and I keep getting corrupted downloads from internet regardless of the browser I use (firefox/chrome/opera), the only way to download .exe or .zip or similar executable files is to disable avast during the downloading process.

I have no firewall active on my router, only Windows firewall.

I have recently installed Avast free on a Windows 7 PC
Did you remove your previous used AV before installing avast?

Did you remove it according to vendors instructions / removal tools.

General: Uninstalling a third-party antivirus software. http://www.avast.com/en-eu/faq.php?article=AVKB11

Generale: Disinstallare un terzo antivirus. http://www.avast.com/it-it/faq.php?article=AVKB11

I have installed Avast on a freshly installed Windows 7 PC, it was one,if not the first, program installed.

Try avast repair and see if that changes anything

Controlpanel > ad / remove programs > avast > uninstall / change > repair option … reboot

I have repaired the installation, I’ll update this thread in case the problem isn’t solved.
Thanks.

update
Apparently its not solved.

I was just downloading some video files a while ago, when I noticed the download stops at some point, browser will keep showing a “download speed” even if the download its simply inactive, dead. I tried to download it multiple times, no luck.

So I disabled all Avast’s protections and tried again, downloaded the same file no problem.

There must be something in my settings (which I haven’t touched) that tells Avast to eat alive my files before they are downloaded.

The problem further depends.
I have discovered that avast is the cause behind my connection’s randomly freezing and being unusable until a system restart.

I had these strange disconnections since a while now, didn’t realize the cause until now.

Avast its now really annoying me now…

follow OTL instructions … attach OTL diagnostic logs http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Hello

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware detected some threats in my PC, and it created a log file.
I also ran a scan with OTL
The last tool (aswMBR) is taking long so in the mean time I’ll just post the logs from the first 2 tools.

I’ll add aswMBR’s log later today.

essexboy is notified…

mostly PUP
PUP = not virus / Possible Unwanted Programs … usually crap that comes bundled with freeware downloads

but also a couple of keygens / crack … when the bad guys give away something for free, they usually add some extra programs  dont use keygen/crack programs

On completion of this try a download and let me know the result

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following
