Avast couldn't scan these?

Can anyone tell me why this can’t be scanned, I have ignored it for months now, assuming it is just a part of the back-up for my computer. But recently I have the need to be sure whether it is a Virus or not so could anyone help? I am not revealing anything important that I shouldn’t let others see by showing my tooltip over where it says it is password protected right? (For example, it isn’t wise to just hand out your IP address) I also have Avast on the following scan options: Normal heuristics, Store data about scanned files in the persistent cache, Select the packer formats to be extracted while scanning: All packers. I chose to select all packers for a more thorough scan, if it does not scan more thoroughly (The sole reason I ticked the box) could someone tell me?

This is normal, avast cannot read archives it doesn’t know how to unpack, and archives that are password protected.

Though is it possible this could be a virus? Thanks for the help by the way. =)

avast@ advantage77.com is correct in that Avast cannot read the archives that are password protected.

What did you select for the “Action” to take when you ran the scan? If you have come up clean with all your other scans (Quick, Full, Boot), then I would put “No Action.”

You can also run an on-demand scanner if you are really concerned, although I don’t think this will catch any archives that are password protected, like Malwarebytes-Antimalware (MBAM), but it’s a good back up tool to have that works differently than your normal AV. This also comes as a resident (running all the time) version as well, and is compatible with Avast for a one-lifetime fee.

Can anyone tell me why this can't be scanned,
avast already have......it is stated in the staus field ?

files that can not be scanned ar just that…no more no less…it does not mean they are infected
avast is just giving you a scan error report…and the reason why

I also have Avast on the following scan options: Normal heuristics, Store data about scanned files in the persistent cache, Select the packer formats to be extracted while scanning: All packers. I chose to select all packers for a more thorough scan, if it does not scan more thoroughly (The sole reason I ticked the box) could someone tell me?
unless you have some special need....or know something the avast guys dont know ::)..... i suggest you use the default scan options quick/full with default scan settings It is not nescessary to scan everything.....lots of files does not need to be scanned, and you have a realtime shield running in the bacground all time when computer is on., and this check every file that moves in the computer when in use ;)

Thanks for all the information.
