Avast CPU usage

I noticed my laptop had slowed down and that battery usage had declined considerably. Probably for about the last 2-3 weeks. Had a look at task manager and Avast is taking up 30-40% of CPU.

Does anyone know how to remedy this? Apologies, I am not IT literate so you will have to go very slowly!!

Remove Avast Cleanup and reboot. Better now…?

Thank you Asyn. I have uninstalled and the usage down to more normal levels - 1-9%. By the way I think the link is out of date.
