Avast crash followed by infection! HELP!

Hi. I have been using Avast with comodo on win 7 pro 64 for a while now without much trouble. Yesterday tho, while working on some music production software (propellerhead reason 6) avast crashed and it took away my ability to connect to the internet. At the same time, all my custom defense+ settings were erased. I did a memory scan with avast and it detected the comode memory block as a trojan-which couldnt be erased or moved to chest. I opened Malwarebytes to run a scan and it didn’t detect anything. However, with MBAM open, i did another memory scan with Avast and it detected 7 infections in the MBAM memory block. Similarly SuperAntiSpyware doesn’t detect any infections, yet there are 2 infections that avast memory scan detects when SuperAntiSpyware is launched. To make things weirder, the list of malware changes everytime i re-launch said security software.

After a few reboots, i regained somehow the ability to connect to the internet.

In Safemode as in normal mode, while no other security software is running, Avast memory scan doesn’t detect any malware. I ran Avast Boot time scan, as well as AVG rescue scan with latest definitions, and nothing aside from tracking cookies was detected.

So i don’t really know what to do anymore. Any ideas?

Thanks

Advice; Stop scanning memory. It picks up the signatures of other security products when they are running. And its not that important.

edit: your connection problem resolved on its own, correct?

At the same time, all my custom defense+ settings were erased.
That's a first. Never heard of that. Only way I know that could happen is if you inadvertantly reset Defense+ to a new profile or to default.

Did the PC crash and reboot or only Avast stopped working?

You might be right, but it’s still odd, it never did that before. And it doesn’t do it right now on this computer either…

Yep. The connection loss and Avast crash happened simultaneously, which might lead one to believe they’re related. Also, it took several reboots before the connection issue resolved.

I couldn’t have reset my defense+ manually. Besides, they were the accumulation of over a year of fine-tuning…

The PC didn’t crash at all. Avast simply stopped working mid-session and wouldn’t restart (the Fix Now button didn’t solve the issue either). After rebooting a couple of times avast didn’t want to work so i went into safemode and scheduled boot-time scan. It found nothing, but was working afterwards…

I did a memory scan with avast and it detected the comode memory block as a trojan-which couldnt be erased or moved to chest.
of course you can't....it is a process and not a file

and as already said, do not use the scan memory setting
if you do not know what will happen, then dont change the default scan settings

When you reconfigue Comodo, make sure you export your configuation to a folder in My Documents, etc. That way you can easily import to reestablish them.

BTW - someone just commented in another thread about Comodo’s new “enhanced protection mode” causing multiple BSODs on his PC. He disabled it and no problems since.
