Hi I brought Avast with a 3 licence and seemed ok on my laptop but when it broke after the dog knocked it off a wall lol i had to by a new laptop a acer with windows 8. I took macafee off then proceeded to install avast but for some reason the laptop packed up ie the key pad stopped working, well i took it back to currys/pc world saying the acer is broke so they gave me another unit and once home i did the same again trying to install avast and yet again the laptop stopped working. I got my son to look at it for me and he found the avast had some how caused my keypad to stop working by corrupting the driver, he un installed avast and the laptop worked again? has anyone came across this? and can anyone get someone from avast to contact me because i have paid for avast but can not use it which is disgusting in my opinion. Thanks in advance for any help

Did you use the removal tool to uninstall McAcrap?

What exact version of avast did you install?

Install Windows 8.1 or update to 8.1 before installing avast.
Hi leedeathe03 and Eddy,
All proper uninstall procedures should always be followed up by a reboot of the operational system. One has to restart the computer to complete the full uninstall routine. Before installing a new resident av product (and only one resident product to be used on your computer for that matter), use additional cleansing with CCleaner to be completely sure all left-overs and residue of a previous program have left the machine. With CCleaner do not cleanse any registry settings, only when an expert and one knows darned well what one is doing can you touch the registry, else you may ruin your machine’s functioning. The above procedure could help avoid conflicts and crashes or later program or software conflicts. I give this just as a reminder.
