AVAST crashes

When I started my computer a couple of hours ago, I was prompted to do a restart for a new version.
When I try to do a scan now, the tool crashes.
I already tried a repair: same result
I then uninstalled and re-installed: same result

So I need urgent help, because I have no antivirus any more now!

Hi,
we have identified a problem in the latest program update – it causes SmartScan to crash Avast UI – and we’re going to fix it today, asap. We apologize for any inconvenience we’ve caused.

Thanks,
Petr Kurtin

AvastSvc.exe and aswidsagent.exe continue to run. I too tried a repair but the problem persists.

Hi, see Reply #4 from Petr. You need to wait for the fix to be released.

Its fixed. Restart your computer.

its not fixed on my side,
it still crashes, and i also have the problem that it even crashes by opening the programm without trying anything it just closes the programm completely even the small icon in the right corner of the Desktop dissapears and only sometimes whenn i try opening the Programm it stays so please do something!

Ok after i tried again to reinstall it, its working again.

After checking the forum this morning to see if the problem was fixed, I checked my system but it was still broken. I was able to get it going by opening the UI, selecting Menu (upper right), the Settings, then Troubleshooting and finally Repair App. I did this on three computers. It would sometimes crash before completing and would take two or three tries to get there. Once it repaired, I opened the UI again and it asked me to restart. After the restart all seems fine.

I would have first restarted as this could well have been enough to trigger the fix that would have been delivered in a VPS (Engine) update. You may well need a restart after that (I don’t know as I never had this issue in the first place).

While the issue was active, I found that attempting to use Wi-Fi Inspector also caused AvastUI to cease operations.
