I work for a software company and we’re having issues with our customers that have Avast AV installed. Basically when they try to install one of our software for the first time, the installation fails. Subsequent installation attempts do succeed, however we would like to avoid this as it provides a poor user experience.
The issue in question is identical to: https://github.com/wixtoolset/issues/issues/5658
Looks like it is the CyberCapture feature that is causing this problem as disabling it allowed the installation to proceed without issues. This is most likely caused by CyberCapture placing the installer in a sandbox environment, causing permission issues for the installer. Even when we implemented a workaround which is to essentially reattempt the installation automatically (same as the solution from github), it kept interfering intermittently with the installation.
We’re interested in white listing our applications. Instead of submitting one application at a time, we’d like to white list our digital signature. Could you point us in the right direction on how we can achieve this?
Once the digital signature is whitelisted, the behaviour of CyberCapture towards any of your files using this signature will be altered (for both current and future files).
In the description field, please mention that you would like to apply for the digital signature to be whitelisted, not just the application.
As part of the application form, you will be requested to upload a file of maximum size 50 MB. This should be a digitally signed file that is part of the application - preferably the executable file if possible. Once the file and application form have been reviewed, we will email you with account credentials to be used to upload the remaining files to our whitelisting FTP server (information on doing this can be found here: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/160?option=ftpwhitelisting)
