"Avast.de Hacked And Defaced – 20,000 User Accounts Leaked
Antivirus vendor Avast! have had their main German website and four of its subdomains hacked and defaced earlier today. Subsequently, details for some 20,000 or so user accounts have been made available online."
The problem is all the hype about the hack is that this is an avast software domain and not an avast distributor, somewhat different, but then they wouldn’t have a high profile story.
The avast.de domain belongs to a German reseller (Procello).
We have been trying to get this domain from them for years. This incident should catalyze this.
I am using the free german version, which I downloaded from chip.de. Was there any potential danger coming from definition/program updates, or are these two completely seperated systems/organisations?
Needless to say that with all the recent cyberattacks users should wise up and change the passwords they use from time to time,

There could not be a better moment. Are there any other reseller forums that avast! owns or likes to own in order to bring them all under one avast! umbrella?
