Avast dectects a virus, virustotal says it's harmless

Hello! I’m very clueless when it comes to viruses/worms/trojans and malwares. Therefor I have to ask a coulpe of questions, to make sure that my computer is safe to use now.

I got a virus on my computer yesterday, that avast detected. Since I allready had a back-up for all my doctuments, pictures and music on an external harddrive, I reset my computer to fabricstate (or how i shuld describe it). When I had reinstalled windows 7, I did a reboot scan with avast, and nothing was found. I did download malwarebites too and did a scan with it too. Also nothing found.

Today I did a fullscan on the computer with avast! and it found 8 threats. It was ranked as high. The codes ended with
“ntoskrnl.exe” and “ntkrnlpa.exe”.

I then scaned the codes with virustotal and it says they are all harmless.

My question now is, is it just a false-posetive alarm?
Also, this is not the same as the virus yesterday. Avast can not find that virus on my computer anymore. Is it gone? Will it be safe to log in to my bank-account and so on, or is there a risk doing so?

Sorry for my bad english, It was a while I used it ::slight_smile: Hope you understand me anyway!

EDIT*
My computer runs fine otherwise! No blue screens, no programs shuting down and it’s not slow or anything.

No, no blue screens. I will download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool!

Is there information I should post here?

Should I just copy & paste the log, or is there a way to attach that file to the replay? (sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m new here!)

Thanks! Here is the malewarebytes anti-malware log.
I will post farbar recovery scan log, in a minute!

Here is the FRST scan logs.

Yes I checked that box too.

Aboute task manager:
If you ment the suspected codes, no they are not running.

Thank you for all the help!
Okey! I now have download the security task manager and have done a scan. Do you want a log from that too? ( I noticed the log has some swedish, I hope that does not matter…)

Sorry, I don’t feel comfortble to give out my facebook. And right now, since I did reset my computer i don’t have skype currently installed.

Hello crrow

Please wait for the instructions of a malware expert. I’ve just informed essexboy.

DJBone

Could you post a screenshot of the alerts please as that will give more data

It’s all in swedish. Sorry, hope it’s useful anyway. Otherwise, I can translate… :stuck_out_tongue:

OK were you doing windows updates at about that time ?

The files were in winsxs which is where updated are unpacked and sorted out as it were. I am guessing that the alert are no longer present after a reboot

I might have done a windows update actully! Since I reseted my computer it sugested I should do some updates. I think I did not closed the update before doing the scan on the computer.

OK that makes sense this should not occur the next time you boot or scan, if it does let me know

I have now done another full scan and it came out clean. No threat was detected.

Last questions: So, does that mean my computer is clean? Is it safe to use now, do things like; login to my univerity account or doing bank errand? Just want to make sure

So, does that mean my computer is clean?
yes .... avast sometimes give this detection (for unknown reasons) if you scan right after a Win update
