Every time the avast system updates, my sensitivity, pup scanning, and sometimes exclusions get deleted. What can I do?
Every time the avast system updates....I guess you mean avast program update? .... and not virus signatures
Settings>General>scroll down and click “backup settings”.
When you are finished updating/upgrading Settings>General> scroll down and click “restore settings”>reboot

This isn’t something intentional, the settings if you update from within the program should be retained, as they have on my systems. I have been using avast for over eleven years and not experienced this issue.
The only exception would be if I did a clean reinstall.
Are you running avast on a limited user account ?
No. I am the computer adminstrator
That was the only other thing that I could think of for the settings not being saved, as avast doesn’t allow limited account users to change the settings.
So something isn’t right, you could try an avast Repair and see if that works, but obviously you would have to wait for the next round of program updates.
Control Panel > Programs & Features > Avast Antivirus > Change - from the next window select Repair. Reboot after the repair.
The only way your settings will be retained without save/restore is to update via the GUI.
I prefer to download the full/offline installers. After the install I use the save/restore feature
unless I update through the GUI. I do beta testing so I use save/restore a lot.
