Avast destroyed my 15 year old computer game

I have been playing Jagged Alliance 2 since Windows 98SE. I have been playing the mod, Jagged Alliance 2 Vengeance Reloaded since 2015. Tonight Avast decided… I don’t know what… decided it was a threat, erased the EXE file and made the entire folder Read Only. I can not undo the Read Only attribute to try to drop in a new EXE file.

I am going to reinstall the entire game, but if this happens again I am forever uninstalling Avast, and good riddance.

Draidor

You can exclude the game folder from Avast’s scans by adding an exception. If you’re certain the files therein are safe.

You should always have a backup. That way you can just restore the entire folder and keep playing.

You should be able to restore the exe from quarantine to its original location. Possibly after adding that exception.
