I downloaded avast update with some other programs from other sites a few days ago. When I attached my flash drive to my computer I scanned it with avast and it said no virus. When I tried to open the flash, a blue screen appeared with the message “A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your system.” The system rebooted.
I suspected a virus as other programs can work but if I tried to open C,D, or E drive the message came up and the system rebooted.
I tried to update my avast but kept getting the message “program is spawning”

Suspicious file found
A suspicious file has been detected (using heuristic method). This is a sign of malware infection. Please allow the file to be submitted to our lab for analysis."

I scanned my computer but avast could not delete it. I deleted manually from on screen alert, it keeps alerting me of virus in my operating system.

I now scanned my flash in a different computer and avast detected a trojan horse fasc and win32.kavos which it successfully deleted.

What do I do to clean my sytem?

If Maxx cannot debug… well, take a long way…

I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

Kaspersky (very good detection rates)
ESET NOD32
Trendmicro housecall
F-Secure
BitDefender (free removal of the malware)

Or try using the Avira rescue CD. Download the file, or get someone to do it for you, double click on file, and you will be prompted to burn to CD. Insert CD into the infected PC and boot up. Choose option 2 for virus scanning. Choose language, then PRESS SPACE, then enter. The download is updated daily. Good luck and post back.
