Avast detects severe threat but then says "system cannot find specified file"

After running an Avast scan it told me that there was a threat:win32:Downloader-RUS. It gave me the option to move it to chest. When I tried to do this it told me that system cannot find specified file. The path listed was:

C:\documents and settings|username\local settings\temp\2.609638915043611E7.exe

What do I do now?

C:\documents and settings|username\local settings\temp\2.609638915043611E7.exe

try clean your temp folders

TFC requires a reboot immediately after running. Be sure to save any unsaved work before running TFC.

This can happen if you use temorary files cleaner while avast! is already doing a scan. In most cases antiviruses first “inced” files and folders before the actual scan.

So the AV has “indexed” the files and started the scan. You have cleaned the temp files in the meanwhile and then avast! cannot find it after the scan is complete even though it has detected it during the scan itself. SOmetimes this can also happen if you clear browser temp while already doing the scan.

If it cannot find the file it has detected, then it’s fine as the file doesn’t exist there anyway.
