Today I got Antivira AV (a rogue spyware) while my avast! 5.0 was turned on and up-to-date.
I was able to take care of it but now I’m afraid of the possibility of getting it again since it was not blocked by avast.

welcome to the forum.
yhea avast have some problem with that kind of malware but no antivirus program have 100% detection.
malwarebytes is a good program to deal with this kind of infecion.

if you have the sample of that nalware you can send it in to avast by add the file/s to the chest and upload it from the chest to the avast lab so they can improve there detection.
hope this will do for you
welcome here agian.
How did you take care of it? my avast missed it too!!! I found some removal tools but they want you to pay for them… Did you get it off without paying?
Thanks!

Hi Doug, welcome to the forum
Is it this?

As mikaelrask suggested, MBAM should be able to remove it, and MBAM is free
Scott
Yes, Malwarebytes should be able to remove it for you. A removal guide can be found on bleepingcomputer’s forum: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivira-av
Also, you should hide your email address on the forum (change your username) because spammers will exploit it.
not sure what you are talking about, my name is not my email address. jk, i just changed it, thanks for the warning. i will try that malwarebytes again, that is the one i was working with and i thought i got to a point that it wanted me to buy something, so i quit. i will try it again.
Thanks!
