Avast disconnecting ADSL connection

My ADSL link keeps getting dropped and now when it shuts down it wont reconnect at all. By uninstalling Avast service returns to normal.

I have been using Avast for about 10 years and have had this Lenovo laptop for more than a year but this problem is recent. Working on Windows 8, latest version Avast Free Virus protection.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Make sure all of your wifi drivers are all up to date and make sure your windows 8 is also up to date. Does your ADSL internet service providers provides their own patches and updates to their modem? I find it hard to believe it is affected by Avast.
