hi Leo999,

avast! performs two basic types of scans at its’ core:

  • Static
  • Real-time

A static scan is performed when one does the operation you’ve just described above or a quick or full scan is called for by the user. Your file is not actively running on your system but is inert and inactive. Static files can be detected when a manual scan is done, otherwise, no. A static file does not pose a threat until it becomes active and runs in memory.

Real-time scan: avast! checks and verifies all files running on your system at the moment they run, and if clean, allows them to continue. Example: You open Microsoft Word and all files related to that program are scanned at the moment they run.

Nothing to change re the operation of the Alert Window as that is operating properly as above.

Please follow Pondus’ advice and scan your detected file as well as attaching a screenshot of your alert. The fact that you think you have a problem is sufficient reason to investigate further.
