I used to have avast listed in adminstrative tools [control panel] in event viewer. had to reinstall avast and now it is not listed in event viewer. Also I have had avast for 2 yrs. and it has never give a warning or stopped anything from getting on my computer. My friend says she get warnings when something tries to access her computer. How can I tell if avast is really working?

After reading the documentation associated with these ‘test files’ it would be extremely prudent to have the process cleared by one of the mods as “safe”

Avast 5 doesn’t use/have an entry in the windows event viewer as avast 4.8 did.

I don’t get warning either, but perhaps that is how I got my name. I know Avast is working and protecting me. I keep a clean machine and maybe you do too.
