Toaday I noticed that avast has not updated virus definitions automatically. It just gives this message after manually trying to update definitions: https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=4EB1F931FF579F20&id=4EB1F931FF579F20!242 Current vps version: https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=4EB1F931FF579F20&id=4EB1F931FF579F20!243
I have not changed any avast settings and my internet connection is working normally. Any advice, what shall I do? Anyone else have this problem?
Start with running a repair of avast and a reboot first and see if that helps.
You can attach images to your posts, that way avast members don’t have to visit off-forum (unknown) links.
Try a repair of avast:
Win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair.
Hello!
Tried the repair option, but it just gives me another error: https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=4EB1F931FF579F20&id=4EB1F931FF579F20!244 And the error log (see attachment). What now?
Please just attach the images as previously suggested, people don’t have a clue what might be on an off-forum link. They may be reluctant to click the link and that doesn’t help you.
You will need to do a Manual update of VPS - avast! Virus Definitions Update - Manual Download VPS Update (virus definitions, vpsupd.exe, approx 64.6 MB). - Save the file to your hard disk, locate where you saved it and double click it and that should carry out the virus definitions update.
I downloaded this file and updated manually. But how do I know avast will update itself automatically from this point on (so that I don’t have to manually update vps definitions)?
Its purpose is twofold to repair the broken functionality and to ensure that you have the full database.
So you should have no problem, in fact you can test it by trying a manual update from within the avastUI as you did before. Then it is a waiting game for the next auto update check (when an update is actually available).
