Hi. I play online poker on a site called bodog and use a program called Pokertracker 3. Its a program that tracks statistics. I noticed that pokertracker 3 does not work when i have avast antivirus installed. I can confirm this because when i uninstalled it, pokertracker works and runs. I spoke to pokertracker support and they told me to ask this on the avast forums.
One of their support person tells me
What might be happening is that some automatic setting in Avast is disabling access to an important PokerTracker3 file without telling you. Therefore if you don’t have any luck with the Avast people, perhaps try disabling any Avast auto settings such that it must ask you before taking an action. Typically when these security programs make a mistake and do something they shouldn’t be doing, you may be able to use an “Ignore” option when it warns you provided this is occurring for a single PokerTracker3 file.
Hi. I play online poker on a site called bodog. Pokertracker is a program that records the hands i play on bodog. I spoke to a support person at pokertracker support and asked them how come my pokertracker program doesn’t run and they say it could be my avast antivirus. The thing is when i uninstall avast and then run pokertracker, it runs and records hands.
So because of that i’m pretty sure avast antivirus is the reason why its not working and wanted to know what i can do now.
Avast isn’t doing anything when i’m running pokertracker. Is that what you mean? There isn’t any errors. I’m saying that i noticed when i uninstall avast, pokertracker works when i’m running it. IT doesn’t run when avast is installed. I wanted to know what could be the reason for this since the support person at pokertracker said avast must not like something in the pokertracker program for this to happen.
Please add that program in the exclusions of Avast ,which is in the Main settings of Avast (Top right side of Avast ).I also recommend you to exclude that program from the File shield ,Behavioural Shield (add in the trusted processes)that are in the REAL TIME shields of AVAST.
Still you are facing issue!! post reply… We hope the issue is fixed. Have a wonderful day. Good k@rma !
Since I haven’t any idea how pokertracker goes about it recording of the hands you play, I don’t really know what shield it might be interacting with. The fact that there are no errors also makes it harder to identify what shield it might interact with.
If pokertracker is a running file that uses the HTTP protocol to gather the information then it might be considered a browser.
try opening the avastUI, Real_Time Shields, Web Shield, Expert Settings, and check the ‘Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only,’ option.
if that works you might consider excluding the to the pokertracker executable file, in those setting, Exclusions section.

If the above is the cause excluding the file as suggested in the Behavior Shield will have zero impact.
To see if the behavior shield may be involved, just check its report file, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report\BehaviorShield.txt (XP location) or C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\BehaviorShield.txt (Vista, Win7), for the pokertracker executable file, if it isn’t their exclusion won’t have any impact.
I wouldn’t recommend excluding it in the File System Shield as that scans and alerts to infection, ‘it doesn’t block.’
Exclusion in the avast main settings is a total waste of time as that is for on-demand scans and has zero impact on the real-time on-access shields.
First install your avast then in the Pokertracker tools window go to tools>configure sites. Import all the sites you play on and ALL your results are now visible!
