Avast doesn't detect keyloggers?

Hello!

http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/report.html?id=d88038294cc1deb44b2edd1dea5a4299ccf86012e08048862ba840732c6205d2-1294788737

I sent this keylogger several times from the virus chest in Avast (first time over a month ago!) and still no detection has been added.
It is detected by several other products as riskware or keylogger. Since I have not run the file I’m not sure what it does, but I don’t
think all 21 detections on virustotal are false positives? How can I notify Avast about this sample so they can detect it too?

send in a password protected zip.file to virus @ avast . com
subject: undetected sample
zip password: infected

you may add a link to this topic in the mail

I think I remember VirusTotal uses Avast! default scan settings. And by default Avast! is not scanning for “PUP”, which is what Avast! would classify this detection as, same as “riskware” for other vendors.

Have you tried scanning the keylogger (if you still have it) with scanning for PUP turned on?

@Gargammel360

It used to be like that but i think that changed, me an Asyn had the same discussion and i found a VirusTotal detection where the detection had the PUP ending

If you manage to find the tread you can see it as i remeber posting the VT result there

Oh, alright, thanks for the info :slight_smile:

Avast does not detect it even with PUP detection on. I will try to send it by mail and refer to this tread instead.

Just wanted to say that this sample is finally detected by Avast as Win32:PUP-gen. Thanks, but wonder why it took so long time.
