Avast downloaded and Free Trial ended

Hi

I downloaded Avast for my computer, and was expecting to get a free 30 day trial, as the website offered, yet when installed and opened, it displayed a message that told me that my trial period was over and offered me to buy, or “activate my protection”. I read on the website that I would get a 30 day free trial and then I would get the choice of paying or continuing my free subscription. Well, I can’t see an option of keeping my free subscription anywhere. Did I miss something, or was this all an advertisement trick?

What os/sp?
What exact version of avast?
Any other security (related) software installed, or did you had it?
Did you installed avast in the past?

I use Windows 8, and the version is 150108-1
This is the first time I have installed Avast on this computer, and the only security related software is Windows Defender.

Hi kschramreed,

And welcome to the forums.

I think Eddy meant the program version and not the virus database version (year-month-day-virus update version)

See attached below for clarification:

One of the reasons for asking is because some users have not upgraded/updated to the latest version; some are still using avast version 8.0 from a couple of years ago. Type of help will vary depending on which version is installed.

Ah yes, I see! okay the program version is 2015.10.0.2208

And the trial version is supposed to be?
