Avast (downloaded today) makes MSIE no longer run (Win7 x64)

Brand new installed an fully updated Win7 x64 … after installing Avast (downloaded today) MSIE is no longer running (see Screenshot) – accessing add-ons is not possible (for disabling); after uninstalling Avast again, MSIE runs again normally …

Disable the Avast Online Security add-on/extension in IE.

Not possible as MSIE does not run far enough to be able to access add-on settings!

Try this…Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “change”>untick “browser protection”>reboot.

OK, reinstalled it with only software-updater and home-network-security as tools – and now MSIE is working …

Great! Have you tried any other browsers like Firefox or Chrome?

Usually I use Maxthon or SRWare Iron … but as MSIE can be considered as a part of the system itself (even if it is not used), it’s not acceptable that it cannot run!

The major issue with IE is security. Both Firefox and Chrome are more secure than IE.

Even if having a different browser declared as default-browser it happens that MSIE is opening when clicking on a direct link (Adobe Acrobat is such a thing that ALWAYS opens links with MSIE even when having declared a different browser as default; and some other MS-system-stuff is doing that too). So an unrunnable MSIE is not acceptable – even if the only thing is copying the url manually and then opening it with the preferred browser …

That’s a personal opinion. Statistically, the latest version of IE is just as secure as any of the other
modern browsers. Added security is usually achieved through browser add-ons.
The browser an individual uses is usually a personal preference. Mine happens to be Chrome.

Where are you getting your statistics?

Here’s just one article:http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2365692,00.asp
Simple research will give you much more.

Ever since IE10, no they’re not. IE is the more secure option now.

Now we’re exaggerating in the other direction.
