Hay Guy’s this is the first time this has happened, While I was away from the puter it appears avast rebooted itself as it moved from it’s position on the tast bar, But also there was a pop up notification “Avast encountered a problem and needs to restart” and no other information why? or log file? what happened and why? Do I need to do anything?
Without information (what you were doing when it happened, did you have something running in the background, etc.) it isn’t possible to give a detailed answer, it would just be speculation.
Personally when something happens for the first time on my system I don’t even bother investigating. If it becomes a regular occurrence then it is worth investigating.
Have no idea, fell asleep with the puter on, only 2 programs running which are normally on CS direct platform web browser & Firefox for 2nd email server. When I got up this morning I had the pop-up window and noticed that Avast icon changed positions as it had rebooted. But the puter haden’t and both programs were still running. Just concerned what the Problem Avast encounted casued it to stop running and reboot?
If it is a windows based error resulting in the “Avast encountered a problem and needs to restart” error, I would say that avast would have been restarted immediately rather than awaiting user input.
Presumably when that error “Avast encountered a problem and needs to restart” was displayed there was no user dialogue options, more informative of the action taken (given that the avast icon was there but in a different position. As far as I’m aware the error says restart avast not a reboot required.
I agree, But what problem did Avast encounter? that needed to be restarted. Has it been compromised? Do I need to repair/reinstall? Thanks David just trying to be careful
As I have said I don’t know as there is no information to even hazard a guess.
Again for a first instance any action would be speculative, all I believe you should do is continue to use your computer and monitor for any repetition of the error.
No errors, but puter is now overall sluggish loading, and it seems my printer setting changed on it’s own, tried to print and it wouldn’t so I went into setting and it was loading to the wrong print program, corrected it and it worked fine. Geee Don’t know what’s going on with Avast lately, it corrupted my mini port driver some months ago by moving it to the chest with a false positive, wouldn’t allow me to move it out of the chest. Finally had to reinstall the driver after months of losing my connections.
