"avast! encounters problem..." problem with browsing at internet?

Hello.

When Im browsing with mozilla firefox 1.0.2 or opera 7.54, avast just keep getting RANDOMLY this error messege:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/nonpro/problem.jpg

http://koti.mbnet.fi/nonpro/problem.jpg

I think that problem is at “Web shield”, because avast icon wont roll anymore if I still keep browsing at internet(Reboot will activate it again).
But example, if I open some other file, Avast icon will roll.

Latest program which I have installed (before that problem started) is that new mozilla firefox 1.0.2(before it I had mozilla firefox 1.0.1).
Then I installed opera 7.54, because I though the problem was at newest mozilla.

That didn’t resolve the problem.

I have also tried to repair avast installation, and it succeed but the problem still appears. :frowning:

System info:

OS: Windows 2000 Professional with servicepack 4. (maybe 1month old installation…)

Firewall: Kerio 2.1.5

Other programs:
Daemon tools
Steam
Getright
Netlimiter

I have also tried spybot search and destroy and ad-aware SE. They didn’t find anything suspicious. Avast doesn’t find anything suspicious either.

Sorry my bad english, I hope you can resolve something out.

Thank you.

Hello.

Have you tried first un-installing avast! and then re-install and update it?

Wat version of avast! are you using? Home or pro version and what is the version number(current is 4.6.623)?

Oops, I forgot to mention those.

I havent tried to uninstall and reinstall avast, but I could try…

And the version is Avast Home Edition Build: Mar 2005 (4.6.623)

Did you submit the crash report from the “avast! encounters problem…” dialog?
If yes, when (approximatelly) was it and what name or e-mail was used to send it? (you can send it to me by PM if you don’t want to reveal it here)

Thanks!

Please make sure you are using at least Netlimiter version 1.3, previous versions were known to be very unstable with certain apps (Web Shield for example  ) and as Netlimiter is LSP based solution, it loads itself into every process - so when it crashes whole ‘host’ process ends. We might see more from the memory dump, if Igor will manage to find it.

Lukas.

Igor:

I didn’t manage to send that error report.
It says something about wrong SMTP settings and that MAPI thing didn’t worked either. (Must config firewall/and/or STMP settings first)

Ill try to send the error report, when it appears next time(and make smtp/mapi settings).
I will also post the time when I did the error report + email address.

lukor:

I am using newest version of netlimiter (1.3)… But now I have shut it down, so lets see if the “avast! encounters problem…” -errormessege appears again.

-orpnon

OK, check the folder \Data\Log - there should be a recent file (or files) called unpXXXXXXXX, where X are some numbers. That is the actual crash dump sent from the “Error” dialog. Is it there? If yes, can you send us the file, please?
Thanks.

Shutting down netlimiter didn’t helped, problem still continues. :-
Browsing at internet mozilla just gives randomly the error window what says: “file is empty”. Same time Avast! error window appears.

igor:

Yes there is 9 files with start of “unp”

Where to I could send them?

Do I upload those files to internet? I have no clue how do I config those SMTP settings. :frowning:

Thanks for the help.

email to: vlk (at) avast.com
email to: rypacek (at) asw.cz
Upload to the anonymous ftp server ftp://www2.asw.cz/incoming

I mailed log files to vlk.

Shutting down NL makes no difference, it’s dll is still loaded. You must install it if you want to test it - but do you have at least version 1.3?

Lukas, can I make the suggestions that I did (email and ftp)…
If nobody says against it, I’ll continue informing the users to follow this procedure.
Anyway, I feel a little unconfortable as I’m giving an ‘order’ that involves other people…

Of course you can, It’s a great help!!! Thanks.

The information is correct just the ftp address also works in the form

ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming

which might perhaps be more easily remembered. Both are working. Thanks again.
Lukas.

Shutting down NL makes no difference, it's dll is still loaded. You must install it if you want to test it - but do you have at least version 1.3?

Yes, I have latest version of netlimiter(1.3).

Did you got the email with unp files from me? My email is nonpro (at) suomi24.fi

-orpnon

Well did you got something out from those unp files ???

Orpnon, I didn’t get any email from such domain or with nonpro (or orpnon :o) as a sender. Sorry. Can you send it once more to rypacek (at) asw.cz ?

Ok ill resend files to that email. It is coming from nonpro (at) mbnet.fi

Sorry for “delay” I didn’t notice this thread is growing to page 2.

Up…

Hello, I’ve checked the logs (found actually in vlk’s JUNK mail folder) and I see you are (were) using the version 4.6.623. Did you upgrade already and do you still have the same problems?

Lukas.

Yes I upragadet it and problem still appears. :frowning:
