I just stopped another full Avast scan and had to reboot due to a
hangup. It found one infection:
“Win32:Kuange” found in Panda Titanium Antivirus.
A week ago I did an online Panda Scan and it found 19 infections. I had Norton A/V running and it never picked them up. Am always updating. I uninstalled Norton and installed PTA 2005. Then read about Avast! Then continued having trouble uninstalling Panda. Each time I’m denied removal of PTA from the Registry and my Program Files. I have spent five days working to remove PTA using Regedit, CCleaner and RegCleaner. Seems I’ve removed most of it except the following: (I hope I copied this correctly.)
I wonder if this is what is keeping Avast! from running properly.
Just before I came back here after the scan, I checked the “Log Viewer”:

Make sure you are logged in as administrator (not as user with admin rights) while trying to remove the registry keys. Also make sure there is no process/application running that can use those keys.
Make sure everything from NAV is gone. add/remove is not enough. For versions up to 2003 there is a standalone util to remove it on Symantec’s website. Link to it can be found on this board. For versions 2004 and up, you have to do it manully as explained on Symantec’s website. Link to it is also somewhere on this board.
To repair Avast:
start > control panel > add/remove > Avast > change/remove > (scroll down) repair.
