Avast Endpoint Protection Woes

I’ve been an AVAST user since around 2007 both for home and office. I also buy Avast for machines at our company.

I’m seeing trend that I don’t like.

  1. I’m a programmer and my compilations get sandboxed, I turn the settings off but mysteriously they sometimes comes back - it’s wasting my. (On Windows XP SP3 Professional)

  2. Endpoint protection asks for passwords too many times. This is getting old really fast.

  3. Our CAD (Computer Aided Design) operator running ACAD LT 2000i keeps getting sandboxed almost every hour (for at least two weeks now) and the AVAST settings keep disappear as if it were never saved.
(On a Windows 7 Professional machine)

I’m about to throw it out.
I sent an email to customer service and got no response.

IF ENDPOINT IS ASKING FOR A PASSWORD, THEN IT IS MANAGED. SO, YOU CANNOT TURN OFF AUTOSANDBOX AT THE CLIENT, IT MUST BE DONE IN THE MANAGEMENT CONSOLE. Whoops, sorry about caps lock. Turning it off in the console will immediately solve this problem.

I usually take an un-managed client, set autosandbox for ask, not auto, and then build my exclusion list so I know what to exclude from the console. Then I turn autosandbox back on in the console, and add the exclusion list. (this step of course is optional)

IS THERE A WAY TO DOWNGRADE FROM ENDPOINT? I’m really sick of it, we’re less than 10 people – I don’t need this headache.

That won’t help, because there is still the AutoSandbox is still there too, in the avast! 7 Pro product. You are 1 minute away from having it turned off in the console!

How am I supposed to build an exclusion list when every new executable that I produce starts fresh all over again?

If autosandbox is causing you grief, then I would turn it off. Many networks out there are configured this way.
