Recently my netbook, Windows 7 starter is reporting the wrong version when the definitions file is updated. For example, this morning the popup reported version 130713-0 but checking in maintenance showed 130714-0
It would be nice to fix this. But I don’t relish re-installing!
Seems a bit drastic! However, Avast seems to have sorted itself out today - after a week or so of reporting the wrong version this morning it got it right! I’ll keep an extra careful eye on it for a bit longer though. The fact I hadn’t used the machine for a month or so may have had something to do with it.
I just experienced the same problem. There was pop up with the VPS I already
had - 130717-1.
Latest virus definition here : http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history
is 130718-2.
Also after pop up Avast shortcut was placed on the desktop.
I tried manually to update Virus definitions and it said that it is latest version - 130718-2
although under Maintenance there was 130717-1 version.
After Windows restart Avast is showing under Maintenance tab correct version - 130718-2,
but it placed Avast shortcut again on the desktop.
I hope this was just some glitch.I’ll keep an eye on it.
BTW I don’t need desktop shortcut because I always use system tray icon and i have
Avast desktop gadget also.
A temp glitch is what I’m hoping it is too. I didn’t get a desktop icon - possibly because I don’t, as a rule, run with admin rights. For me the version reported by maintenance has so far been correct every time I’ve looked that is. What do you see if you ask for last popup message? Currently I see the correct version 130718-2
There is no last popup message after Windows restart.Option to show message is greyed out,
but that is normal.I’ll wait for the next update to see if everything is OK.
Everything is fine.Few minutes ago I had popup message about update to version 130718-3.
Version in Maintenance tab is also 130718-3.
I don’t know what was the problem before.
