I use Avast4 Home on my PC running XP; I am not on any non-internet network or LAN. Today, avast discovered two infected files in my C:\RECYCLER folder. The infections were Win32:Trojan-gen{UPX!} and Win32:Dialer-gen[Trj]. When I tried to use avast to remove them, I rec’d this error msg: “Error occurred during moving file to chest. The operation is not supported for this type of archive”. Later when I tried to Delete them through avast, I rec’d a similar error msg that the operation was not supported. Later still when I tried to delete the file manually (ie., not with avast), I rec’d an error msg that, “Cannot delete [the infected file]: It is being used by another person or program”. HOW TO FIX?
Empty your Recycle Bins and check again.
If no joy schedule a boot-time scan from within avast.
