I’m not sure of what the Edwido guard does but if it is a resident scanner it could conflict with avasts on-access scanner as two scanners would be attempting to scan the same file. However, I haven’t heard anything about this in the forums that I can remember.
avast! can’t directly scan gmail accounts because it uses encryption and is secure, you need to use a third party interface (STunnel) to allow this to happen. Check these threads.
GMAIL SSL AVAST and STUNNEL
Gmail and Avast Providers
Solution: Using GMail with Avast and a SPAM filter
Redirecting multiple SSL accounts
I think there is not a problem on having this two particular residents active. I’ve tried and have no problems.
avast!, ewido and Kerio are a great combination, thats what I use and its trouble free.
Thanks Tech.
That’s why I added the bit about not having heard of a conflict on the forums.
I really must try Ewido, don’t know why I haven’t, probably already with three other anti-malware programs I guess ;D
if you are using kerio personal firewall you may consider changing because it is being discontinued.
;)I am using ewido with avast with no problems. Ewido site also mentions AVAST as a compatible antivirus program. Hence one should not normally have problems
