Avast Failed to detect .vbs viruses

Some weeks ago i received a message like ‘There is no disk in drive.please insert a disk in drive H:’,when ever i open & close the CD/DVD drive on my pc. i also found a process running like ‘wscript.exe’ in task manager, whenever the message displays… I use Avast Home edition and i scan all drives with avast, but unfortunately it doesn’t detect any threats… I decided to search with the terms ‘There is no disk in drive + wscript’ in google and i found that this was due to the presence of a ‘.vbs’ virus named ‘cleanvirus.vbs’ (C:/windows/system32/cleanvirus.vbs) on my system. i search my pc with ‘.vbs’ extension and found some vbs files on my pc,but i didn’t found the ‘cleanvirus.vbs’ file in search results. I enable the option ‘Hide protected operating system files(Recommended’ in folder options and i searched again with the term '.vbs’,this time i found the virus(cleanvirus.vbs) in C:/windows/system32/cleanvirus.vbs . i scan the file ‘cleanvirus.vbs’ with avast, but avast find didn’t find any threats in the file. So i decided to manually delete the virus by search in google for ‘cleanvirus.vbs removal’ and i found some tips from some websites for removing it manually…

i was surprised to see why avast didn’t detect a vb script virus…? :o

yes, same with me, Avast has missed 19 infections when i did a full system scan, afterwards Malwarebytes comes to my rescue. Avira is better even though it has less number of features. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
