Avast failed to identify Zepto virus in an email attachment

I was hit by the ZEPTO virus on Sept 1 when I opened the email attachment from a known source. No damage was done, I had everything backed up in several copies, and offline as well. But my question is how come Avast which is actively scanning my incoming email, including all packers, did not catch it? Just asking.

There is no tool in the world that can detect everything.

do you have the attachment? upload and test it here www.virustotal.com

I accept the reality that it’s impossible to identify all viruses. As for the infected file I deleted it immediately (Sept 1), but now I regret it. Does anyone know if the virus is a javascript file or what?

It is a Locky variant.

The mail attachment is just a downloader and often a JS file

always upload and check attachments before you open

Please can someone tell me whether Avast can now block zepto ransomware and, if so, which update accomplished this?

Thanks,
Chris
