Avast failed to find a win32 trojan on my computer, was brought to my attention by nod32 online scan
Ok…thats not very specific. I mean, what was the actual name of the detection, where was it located? You sure it just wasn’t detecting part of Avast?
it could do that?
???
im doing another scan because nod 32 deleted it,at least thats what it said
Possibly. Avast! uses virus signatures, so when you use an online scanner, it can detect the signatures Avast! uses as a virus, thats 1 example The same sort of thing that can happen from any 2 security products conflicting.
I can’t really say I like online scanners. When they are not being leveraged to help sell a product, they are still limited at best. Go with something local.
is this a false positive?
There is absolutely no way to say one way or the other as the nod32 scan gives zero information other than throwing a malware name at the screen, no file name, no location, etc. so that you can check it independently (virustotal, etc.) before letting it delete it.
We see stuff like this in rogue applications, just through some malware names into a list of things found and ask for your money to clean them up. I would have expected a much more professional approach from nod32.
Given that you said it had deleted it on the last scan, it doesn’t seem to have done much as its back, if this is to be believed as there is no way to check this detection.
So to say avast fails, based on this is thin at best.
what online scanner should i use??? i dont know how to use virus total?>>>>>>>>>>
